This was a freelance project for a local start up interested in manufacturing parts in the US for American made rifles.  The client was very specific with product features and ergonomic requirements, as the owner of the company is a veteran.  A unique feature of this handguard not commonly found on aftermarket handguards made to fit the AR-15 or M-16 is the ability to also fit piston and direct gas reload systems.  This design allows for  gas-piston retrofits.  An ergonomic design was critical to provide a stop to prevent the users hand slipping forward when applying forward pressure when in simulation or combat.  An integrated Piccitany MIL-SPEC 1913 rail system addS functional value.  Additional rail systems can be mounted on the sides of the top portion, uninhibiting the shooters grip.  A lower attachment area is also provided for stub handles, which does not affect the shooting position hand grip.  Materials of this product is high quality and a propreitary heat stabilized Nylon developed in the US.  I provided complete development support as well as final CAD data that was used for manufacturing, all done in the US.
